Document Shredding

2024 will mark the 17th year the Pima County Sheriff’s Department has provided this valuable service, free-of-charge to the community. All confirmed event dates are on Saturdays, and all shredding events will be approximately 3 hours. Please check the dates & times listed below for the event nearest you.  Events are added as they are confirmed, so check back often.

All 2024 events will be a drive-thru service. You might be required to exit your vehicle and hand boxes to an attendant or an attendant will come to your vehicle and transfer all documents for shredding to a bin. Shredding will be completed on-site before you leave. Your containers (i.e. cardboard boxes, bins, etc.) will be returned to you. If you bring your documents in plastic bags, please leave them untied so they can be accessed more quickly. Please limit the number of boxes to 5, so that everyone may have a chance to participate.

Acceptable items for shredding are any personal paper documents that are loose, folded, stapled or in envelopes. Please remember to check your papers for foreign objects prior to coming to a Shred-A-Thon. Here is a sample of items found mixed in with people's documents during past events: large seashells, rocks, batteries, computer mouse, computer cables, clothes and other items that would have damaged the shred machine on the truck.

Documents from businesses and personal videos, cassettes, CDs, DVDs, photographs, photo slides, and credit cards will NOT  be accepted.

We have contracted with Assured Document Shredding to provide secure and reliable destruction of your documents.

These events are free to the public and made possible by the generous donation of time by members of the Sheriff's Auxiliary Volunteers.
